Feeling
fabulous in five: A five-week challenge to living a healthy life
Dates: Monday January
7th to Monday January 11th
Requirements: Complete each of the five healthy living
goals each day. Set one personal
goal and
complete it daily. Comment or post on
the blog at least weekly. Respond to the stat
form each
week by Monday at midnight. Bonus points
can be earned each week if desired.
Healthy living
habits: These five habits initially
take thought and planning, but eventually become a way of living and lead to
better days and happier, healthier selves.
Exercise at least 30 minutes each day except Sunday
Eat a healthy breakfast each morning
Eat four servings of fruits and/or vegetables daily
Drink at least four good-size glasses of water every day
No eating after eight pm each night
Personal goal: Your personal goal should be individual and
tailored for you. It should be something
that truly challenges you, but also something that could be established on a
long-term basis. It must be measurable
on a daily or weekly basis.
Blog: Once the challenge begins, I will
send you an invite to the blog. Please get on at least once a week and either
post or comment. A huge part of this challenge is the connection to others
striving for better health. Posts can be
about anything that will contribute to the group—successes, failures, funny
stories or pictures, discussion topics, motivational quotes, tips or
information. Please make your first post
some kind of introduction—to you, your thoughts about healthy living,
anything. Also, please let me know if
you would like to be added to the list of those that receive post email
notification, as some find it easier to stay connected to the blog that way.
Stats:
A form will be sent to you each Monday morning. Please fill it out and return it to me by
Monday at midnight.
Point system: Ten points will be
awarded for a perfect weekly score in each of the five habit categories and
twenty points will be awarded for completing your personal goal every day of
the week. If you do not receive a
perfect score, you can still receive one point per day that you complete your
five habits and two points per day that you complete your personal goal. The weekly blog participation points and
sending in your stats on time are all or nothing.
Point
Break-down:
10 points for 7 days of each of the healthy living habits
20 points for 7 days of your personal goal
10 points for weekly blog participation
10 points for returning your stats on time
For a total of 90 possible points each week.
Plus…
Bonus points: Ten bonus points per week can be earned for
eating only one serving of sweets (soda,
cake,
cookies, candy, ice cream, chocolate, etc.) per day. You receive 10 points for a perfect
weekly score
or one point for each day you do not eat more than one sweet.
Challenge awards: The grand prize
winner (person with the most points) will receive 60% of
the money
pot. The runner up (person with the
second highest point score) will receive 40%
of the money
pot. If there is a tie for first, the
person with the most weeks of a perfect score
in each of
the categories will be considered the grand prize winner.
Money: Since it always helps to
actually have “skin in the game” this challenge requires a $10 fee. The money
all goes into a winner’s pot. Please send a check to me by January 12th
